Overview

Oji-no-taki Waterfall is located in Tamakawa Village, Ishikawa District, Fukushima Prefecture, cascading down the Abukuma River. Selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, its majestic presence, with a 6-meter drop and 100-meter width, captivates numerous visitors. The way the water flows in a Z-shape is truly breathtaking. Well-maintained walking paths around the area allow for leisurely strolls. Cherry blossoms abound in spring, vibrant greenery shines in summer, autumn leaves paint a beautiful scene in fall, and winter offers a magical snowscape. Showcasing diverse beauty throughout the year, Oji-no-taki is truly a natural power spot. Nearby is a stone monument with a haiku poem, "May rain, / Waterfall's water submerges / Its own deep pool," attributed to Matsuo Bashō during his visit. It is said Bashō was captivated by the waterfall's beauty, inspiring this poem. When visiting Oji-no-taki, be sure to stop by Bashō's haiku monument. Oji-no-taki offers a remarkable experience of nature's grandeur, beauty, and history. We highly recommend a visit.
