Overview

Oojosezawa Fudo Falls is a waterfall located in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. Fed by the waters of Mount Wamanakura, it boasts three tiers – the upper (25m), middle (15m), and lower (10m) – plummeting dramatically over rock formations for a total drop of approximately 50 meters. Its grandeur and power are truly awe-inspiring. The falls' name, meaning "Immovable King Falls," is derived from its majestic appearance, likened to the Buddhist deity Fudo Myoo. In the late Edo period, many ascetics visited it as a training ground, and in the early Showa period, many forestry workers who entered the area revered Fudo Son (the deity) as a guardian god, showcasing its long history of religious significance. Along the walking path to the falls, you'll encounter the gently flowing "Sasayaki no Taki" (Whispering Falls). On the ridge before the falls, you'll find "Koshigayama Fudo Son" enshrined, as well as "Oojose no Mizu," the spring water from Mount Wamanakura. Oojosezawa Fudo Falls is situated in one of Chichibu's most naturally abundant areas, making it popular among hikers and trekkers. A well-maintained nature trail leads to the falls, allowing you to enjoy a forest bath along the way. The path offers scenic views of clear streams and lush greenery, providing a delightful experience. Camping grounds and hot spring facilities are also available nearby, allowing you to relax and fully enjoy the natural surroundings. Oojosezawa Fudo Falls is a must-see Chichibu landmark where you can experience its magnificent nature and history. Be sure to visit and experience its charm firsthand.
