The Shimanami Kaido is a roughly 60km cycling route connecting Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, and Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, traversing the islands of the Seto Inland Sea via six bridges. It's become increasingly popular in recent years as a cycling course where you can enjoy crossing islands via bridges. Along the Shimanami Kaido, you'll find historical sites, restaurants serving fresh seafood, and unique cafes. Many islands also offer a variety of accommodations, allowing for leisurely multi-day trips. The Shimanami Kaido is the perfect place to enjoy a cycling trip, taking in the calm Seto Inland Sea and its beautiful islands. Bicycle rentals are available, and you can also stay overnight on the islands. Ferries also connect the islands, making car access convenient. The Shimanami Kaido offers stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea while cycling or driving.
