Sekizen-zan's Three Thousand Cherry Blossoms is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot located on Sekizen-zan, a mountain approximately 370 meters above sea level on Iwagi Island in Kamijima-cho, Ehime Prefecture.
In spring, approximately 4,000 cherry blossoms paint the mountain in vibrant pink, creating a scene resembling a pink sea of clouds. From the observation deck, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea's stunning islands, a breathtaking contrast of majestic scenery and delicate cherry blossoms.
The tradition of Sekizen-zan's cherry blossoms began when islanders planted cherry trees to replace the pines felled during the war for pine root oil. Island residents and various organizations continue to plant cherry trees, making it a truly symbolic "mountain of accumulated goodness" passed down through generations.
Sekizen-zan features various cherry blossom varieties, including Someiyoshino and Yamazakura, each with its own blooming period. This allows for extended cherry blossom viewing.
During the cherry blossom season, many tourists visit, creating a lively atmosphere. You can also savor local specialties and delicacies.
Sekizen-zan's Three Thousand Cherry Blossoms symbolizes the connection between nature and people, offering a heartwarming and unforgettable experience to all visitors.
