Overview
The Hamamatsu City Akino Fukuto Art Museum, located in Tenryu-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, exhibits the works of Akino Fukuto, a prominent Nihonga painter active from the early Showa period to the mid-Heisei period. Akino Fukuto left behind numerous captivating works characterized by her unconventional and free artistic expression. Designed by renowned architect Kisho Kurokawa, the museum is a warm and inviting structure that makes abundant use of Tenryu cedar. A visit to the museum offers an immersive experience into the world of Nihonga through Akino Fukuto's art. Many of her works feature nature and landscapes, allowing visitors to connect with the beauty of Japanese nature. Free parking available (50 spaces at the parking lot shared by the library and art museum at the bottom of the museum hill or at the Futamata Collaboration Center. For those who find the uphill walk to the museum challenging, there is a smaller parking lot at the top with 7 spaces for standard-sized cars.
