The Toyohashi City Museum of Art is located in Toyohashi Park, in the heart of Toyohashi City. Opened in 1995, it serves as a hub for conveying Toyohashi's rich culture and is beloved by local residents. The museum exhibits mainly modern and contemporary artworks, including works by artists with ties to Toyohashi, as well as crafts, calligraphy, paintings, and prints. The permanent exhibition allows for a deep understanding of Toyohashi's culture. For example, works by Yamamoto Kaname, a Western-style painter from Toyohashi, and textiles of "Toyohashi cotton," a traditional Toyohashi craft, are on display. Special exhibitions feature noteworthy works from Japan and abroad on various themes. In recent years, they have held exhibitions covering a wide range of genres, including contemporary art and traditional Japanese crafts. The attached cafe offers refined Western-style dishes. At lunchtime, the daily lunch featuring locally sourced ingredients is popular. From the cafe, you can enjoy the lush greenery of Toyohashi Park, allowing you to relax and savor delicious food and art.
