Hamamatsu Castle, built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1590, was once known as the "Castle of Success," playing a significant role in his unification of Japan. The current main keep was reconstructed in 1958, and its observation deck offers stunning views of Hamamatsu city, including the Enshu Nada coast, Lake Hamana, and the Tenryu River. Inside the castle, you'll find exhibits showcasing Ieyasu's life, the history of Hamamatsu Castle, and the castle town, making it enjoyable for history buffs and children alike. The recently restored castle gate, after a 140-year absence, is also a major attraction. Surrounding the castle is Hamamatsu Castle Park, a popular spot for locals, featuring beautiful Japanese gardens with seasonal flowers and expansive lawns. Hamamatsu Castle is a must-see destination for experiencing history and nature.
