Onojo Castle Ruins, located in Onojo City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is an ancient mountain castle believed to have been built in 658 AD. As the largest ancient mountain castle in Fukuoka Prefecture, it's designated as a national historic site. Onojo Castle was built as a defensive base for Chikushi Kokufu, the political center of Kyushu at the time.
