Akechi Castle is a mountain castle located in Akechi-cho, Ena City, Gifu Prefecture. Said to have been constructed by Akechi Mitsuhide, while it lacks a main keep, the remaining stone walls and moats allow visitors to imagine its former glory. From the castle ruins, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Ena and the Kiso River. Akechi Mitsuhide served as a vassal to Oda Nobunaga and is famously known for betraying and killing him during the Honno-ji Incident.
