Overview

Kōkeizan Eihōji Temple is a Rinzai Zen temple of the Nanzen-ji school located in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. Founded in 1313, this historic temple retains a strong atmosphere of the Kamakura period. During the Muromachi period, Eihōji flourished under the patronage of the Toki clan, the protectors of Mino Province. Legend also has it that Mori Ranmaru, a retainer of Oda Nobunaga, stayed at Eihōji during the Sengoku period. The temple is also known for its beautiful gardens, which offer a different enchanting view in each season, soothing the souls of visitors.
