Overview
Keino-matsubara Beach is a tranquil beach on the western side of Awaji Island, facing the Harima Nada Sea. The beautiful contrast between the 2.5km stretch of pine forest and the blue sea creates a serene atmosphere.
This historic site is mentioned in the Manyoshu, and during the Edo period, it was owned by the Tokushima clan, who cultivated the pine forest. While some areas were reclaimed for increased food production during World War II, resulting in a smaller scale than its historical size, the expansive pine forest still evokes a sense of majestic nature in its quietude.
Keino-matsubara is also selected as one of Japan's 'Sunset 100,' and the silhouette of the sea and pine forest bathed in the sunset sky is a truly breathtaking sight.
The shade under the pine trees provides a cool respite, even without a tent, making it perfect for families. Besides swimming, you can also enjoy camping and leisurely strolls.
Goshikihama, a nearby beach known for its beautifully colored pebbles, is also worth visiting.
Keino-matsubara Beach is the perfect spot for those who want to fully enjoy nature and relax.
We highly recommend a visit!
