Located right next to Kochi Castle, the Kochi Prefectural Kochi Castle History Museum offers a deep dive into the history and culture of Kochi Castle. The museum showcases approximately 67,000 precious artifacts, including National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties. Primarily featuring real artifacts from the Yamauchi family, the lords of the Tosa Domain, and other materials related to the Tosa Domain and Kochi Prefecture, the museum's exhibits are rotated approximately every two months. They also hold diverse special exhibitions and events based on various themes and seasons. Each visit reveals new facets of Tosa's rich history and culture. The observation lobby, which offers a stunning view of Kochi Castle, is a must-see. The museum is adjacent to the bustling Sun-day Market and Hirome Market shopping streets, allowing you to fully explore the castle town. In addition to exhibition rooms dedicated to the history and culture of the Tosa Domain, the museum features interactive displays, videos, and media installations designed to be engaging for all ages.
