The Kochi Prefectural Museum of Art, opened on November 3, 1993, is dedicated to the appreciation and creation of contemporary art. Its permanent collection features a world-class Chagall collection, including five oil paintings and 1202 prints, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in his fantastical and colorful world. The museum also houses a comprehensive collection of prints, films, and related materials by renowned Kochi photographer Yasuhara Ishimoto, and opened the Yasuhara Ishimoto Photo Center in June 2013. Through his photographs, you can experience the Japanese landscape, culture, and the times he captured.
