Overview

Kaikongo is a natural scenic area located in Kushimoto-cho, Wakayama Prefecture, and is part of the Yoshino-Kumano National Park. Named after the famous Kumgang Mountains in the Korean Peninsula, this location boasts a breathtaking view of sharply cut rock formations pounded by crashing waves. The highlight of Kaikongo is undoubtedly its dynamic landscape. Pyramid-shaped and lion-head-like boulders jutting from the sea are truly awe-inspiring. The roar of the waves crashing against the rocks further emphasizes the raw power of nature. When visiting Kaikongo, be sure to enjoy the view from the observation point. The contrast between the blue sea and the bizarre rock formations is unbelievably beautiful. While sunny days are recommended, a slightly rough day offers a different, equally captivating experience. Access to Kaikongo is approximately a 35-minute bus ride or a 20-minute taxi ride from Kushimoto Station on the JR Kisei Main Line. Ample parking is available, making it convenient to access by car. Kaikongo is a highly recommended sightseeing spot where you can experience the grandeur of nature. Witness this magnificent scenery for yourself!
