A hot spring resort where you can refresh your body and mind, enjoying the magnificent nature of Mount Gozaisho and alkaline radium hot springs.
Overview
Yuyama Onsen is a hot spring resort located at the foot of Mount Gozaisho in Komono-cho, Mie Prefecture. Discovered as far back as 718 AD (Yo-ro 2), it was also known as "Deer Hot Springs," as legend tells of injured deer healing in its waters. Later, during the Genroku period, the springs were revived, and eight hot spring inns, including Sugiya, were built, developing the area into a popular retreat for the Tokai and Kinki regions.
The charm of Yuyama Onsen lies in its abundant natural surroundings. You can enjoy alkaline radium hot springs while gazing upon the majestic mountains of Mount Gozaisho.
The alkaline radium spring water is said to be effective for muscle and joint pain, and cold sensitivity. It's also known for its beautifying effects, making it popular with women.
Traditional Ryokans (Japanese Inns) and hotels line the hot spring town, offering a taste of its unique atmosphere. Day trip hot springs offer various facilities including open-air baths, saunas, and rock baths. At night, the lights of the hot spring town create a magical ambiance, providing a tranquil and peaceful experience.
Nearby attractions include Mitakadera Temple, known as a power spot for romance fulfillment, and the ropeway to Mount Gozaisho. Hiking and mountain climbing are also popular activities.
Yuyama Onsen is a captivating hot spring resort harmoniously blending nature, hot springs, history, and culture. Be sure to visit!
