Kinuta Park is a Tokyo Metropolitan Park located in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, boasting a vast expanse of lush greenery. Its predecessor was a large green space planned as part of the 2600th Anniversary of the founding of the Japanese Empire. During wartime, it served as an air-raid shelter, and after the war, it was opened as a municipal golf course. The current Kinuta Park opened on April 1, 1957. The initial development concept was to create a park enjoyable for the whole family. Following this plan, the park was designed to utilize the natural terrain, creating a family park area composed of lawns and forests, along with a sports facility area.
Kinuta Park offers a wealth of attractions. In the family park area, children can run freely and enjoy picnics on the lawn. The cycling course provides a refreshing ride with scenic views of the lush greenery. There are also baseball fields and an athletic field where children can get plenty of exercise.
Adjacent to Kinuta Park is the Setagaya Museum of Art, which is also highly recommended. It hosts exhibitions in various genres, including contemporary art, photography, and crafts, providing an opportunity to experience art. The museum building itself is beautifully designed to blend seamlessly into the verdant surroundings.
Kinuta Park is a captivating park where nature and culture harmonize. It caters to diverse needs: those seeking a relaxing escape from the urban clamor, families wanting a full day of fun with children, and art enthusiasts. We encourage you to visit.
