A metropolitan park in Nerima-ku, Tokyo. A sprawling space filled with sports facilities and abundant nature!
Hikarigaoka Park is a large metropolitan park in Nerima-ku, Tokyo. The area formerly housed Narimasu Airfield and the Kanda-ku Musashi Kenji Gakuen (Hanooka Academy), Japan's first private forest school. After the war, it served as Grant Heights, housing for American military families. Following the return of Grant Heights to Japan in 1973, Hikarigaoka Park was developed on the site. Hikarigaoka Park offers a wide range of sports facilities, including baseball fields, a track and field stadium, tennis courts, a day camp site, and barbecue areas. Surrounded by abundant nature, the park also features a bird sanctuary, the remains of a former manor's forest, and a habitat for Kanto dandelions, providing ample opportunities for leisurely strolls. The park is ablaze with cherry blossoms in spring and boasts stunning autumn foliage, offering year-round natural beauty. While located slightly outside the city center, Hikarigaoka Park provides a spacious and naturally rich environment. It's the perfect place for those seeking a relaxing escape from the urban hustle and bustle.
