Shiki no Sato is a free rural park developed by Fukushima City to foster appreciation for agriculture, a major industry in the city. Opened on July 24, 1995, it welcomes around 300,000 visitors annually.
The approximately 8-hectare park features scattered brick buildings inspired by 16th-century Western European architecture, offering a delightful experience amidst seasonal flowers and nature.
Attractions include a watermill, a rest area (Ikuei no Yakata), a children's playground (Wanpaku Hiroba), a zipline climbing area, battery-powered cars, a garden cafe called "Kaze" (Wind), a shaded playground (Kimorebi Hiroba), a craft workshop, a shallow wading pool (Jabuchapu Ike), a rose garden, a herb garden, a flower hill (circular large flower bed), a farm restaurant, a farmers' market (Nōson Ichiba), and an agricultural processing facility.
The watermill features a large, 6-meter diameter wheel that slowly turns, generating electricity. They also sell gelato, and you can view the watermill's power generation system.
The rest area (Ikuei no Yakata) offers light meals and drinks.
The children's playground (Wanpaku Hiroba) offers various play equipment for kids.
The zipline climbing area features a wall approximately 5 meters high that can be climbed using ropes.
Children can drive battery-powered cars.
The garden cafe "Kaze" is a takeout-only cafe serving sweets and drinks made with Fukushima-produced ingredients.
The shaded playground (Kimorebi Hiroba) has artificial turf with rubber chips under a roof, making it a safe place to play even on rainy days.
The craft workshop offers hands-on experiences like glass painting and Kokeshi doll painting. Souvenirs are also sold here, and a nursing room is available.
The shallow wading pool (Jabuchapu Ike) is bustling with children playing in the water during summer.
The rose garden is near the location used for the opening scene of the NHK morning drama "エール" (Eru).
The herb garden cultivates various herbs, allowing you to enjoy herb tea and herb-infused dishes.
The flower hill (circular large flower bed) boasts an observation deck offering panoramic views of the flower bed. Enjoy seasonal flowers all year round.
The farm restaurant serves dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
The farmers' market (Nōson Ichiba) sells fresh vegetables and fruits grown by local farmers. There's also an indoor souvenir shop.
The agricultural processing facility manufactures processed products using agricultural products from Fukushima City.
Shiki no Sato is a recommended spot where you can fully enjoy the rich nature and culture of Fukushima City.
