Iizaka Onsen Hanamomo no Sato is a park in Iizaka-machi, Fukushima-shi, Fukushima Prefecture, boasting approximately 300 stunning peach blossom trees.
Under the guidance of Professor Masahiro Yoshida of Utsunomiya University, and as a joint research project between the university and the Iizaka Onsen Tourist Association, planting began in 2003 on a city-owned plot of land. Professor Yoshida planted around 200 peach blossom trees of 40 varieties, collected from around the world, on a 40-are site. The park officially opened in 2007.
Admission is free.
The park has expanded year by year, and now features approximately 300 trees on an 80-are site.
The numerous varieties result in a blooming period lasting about a month, from early April to early May, showcasing a wide range of petal shapes, colors, and tree forms.
The Iizaka Onsen Hanamomo no Sato Festival is held every April.
Nestled in the abundant natural beauty of Iizaka Onsen, Iizaka Onsen Hanamomo no Sato offers not only the beauty of the peach blossoms, but also the opportunity to explore the charming onsen town and enjoy the hot springs.
