Hokkaido's largest science museum! Packed with fun for all ages, featuring space-themed exhibits, a planetarium, and an observatory.
Overview
Asahikawa City Science Museum Saipar, opened in July 2005, is one of Hokkaido's largest science museums. Saipar aims to communicate the fun and wonder of science through various exhibits and events, focusing on the advancement of science and technology and its relationship with society. The museum houses numerous permanent exhibits based on space and science themes, as well as special exhibits showcasing the latest technologies. A particular highlight is the planetarium, featuring an 18-meter diameter dome screen and state-of-the-art projectors that recreate a realistic starry night, allowing visitors to experience the mysteries of the universe. The observatory offers daytime planet viewing and nighttime stargazing using a 65cm Cassegrain reflector telescope and a 20cm refracting telescope. Saipar also regularly hosts workshops for children and lectures for adults. Through unique experiences, the museum fosters interest in science and serves as a valuable learning center.
