Nestled in the foothills of the Aso caldera at over 400 meters above sea level, Rakuno Mothers Aso Milk Farm boasts a vast area of 33 hectares (seven times the size of a Tokyo Dome!). Home to five of the world's major dairy cow breeds (Holstein, Guernsey, Jersey, Ayrshire, and Brown Swiss), the farm produces milk, cheese, butter, and other dairy products.
Driven by a desire to educate visitors about dairy farming through hands-on experiences, the farm offers a milking experience at the "Rakuno Experience Stage," an animal petting area with goats, sheep, horses, and small animals, and a hands-on workshop where you can make cheese and ice cream. A variety of restaurants, a gift shop stocked with the farm's own dairy products and local Kumamoto and Aso specialties, and more complete the extensive facilities.
Becoming a "Moo Moo Club Member" (¥1,500 per person) grants you a two-year milk farm free pass and invitations to exclusive member events! A popular spot for families and adults alike, it's definitely worth a visit!
