Otsuka Shokai-ji Historical Park is a beautiful park in Inazawa City, Aichi Prefecture, where history and nature harmoniously coexist. Developed within the grounds of Shokai-ji Temple, founded approximately 1200 years ago by Kūkai, the Great Master Kobo Daishi, this park is known as a spot where visitors can fully enjoy rich history and nature. The park preserves numerous historical structures, including the main hall, pagoda, and multi-storied pagoda, all designated as Important Cultural Properties, offering glimpses into the past. Shokai-ji Temple is particularly renowned for its legend of being founded by Kūkai on his way to visit Atsuta Jingu Shrine in Nagoya, exuding an air of ancient dignity. It's also famous as a hydrangea haven, boasting a dazzling array of colorful hydrangeas. In early summer, around 10,000 hydrangeas of approximately 90 varieties bloom, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
