Tendou Onsen is a hot spring resort located in Tendou City, Yamagata Prefecture. Discovered in 1911 (Meiji 44) during well digging in the Kamada district, it opened the following year. Initially called Kamada Onsen, it was renamed Tendou Onsen in 1924 (Taisho 13). There were once 19 hot spring sources within the area, but in 1955 (Showa 30), they began centralized management, leading to larger hotels and the formation of the current hot spring town.
