Located about a 30-minute walk from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Takio Jinja Shrine is a branch shrine of Futarasan Shrine, known as a power spot enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere.
It enshrines Tagorihime-no-mikoto, the wife of Ōnamuchi-no-mikoto, the principal deity of Futarasan Shrine. It is believed to offer blessings for matchmaking, safe childbirth, and having children.
The shrine grounds are full of highlights, including the "Fortune-Testing Torii" gate where you throw stones to make a wish, the towering "Three Cedar Trees," and the "Child-Bearing Stone" believed to grant fertility.
At the "Fortune-Testing Torii," if you can throw a stone into the small hole three times, your wish is said to come true.
The "Three Cedar Trees" are three cedar trees growing close together, symbolizing marital harmony and family prosperity.
The "Child-Bearing Stone" is believed to bless those wishing for children, attracting many women.
Behind the shrine is the refreshing "Shiroito Falls," where you can bathe in plenty of negative ions.
