The kofun (ancient burial mound) and temple grounds are free. Admission to the Abe Monju-in main hall is ¥700 for junior high school students and adults, and ¥500 for elementary school students.

Monjuin Nishi Kofun is a Kofun located in Abe, Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. Its shape is presumed to be that of an enpun (circular tumulus). Designated as a national Special Historic Site, it's estimated to have been built around the middle of the 7th century. This Kofun is characterized by its meticulously crafted stone-chamber tomb, showcasing the advanced technology of the time. The tomb is 12.4 meters long, constructed of horizontally stacked rectangular cut stones, with a single enormous stone forming the ceiling. Its exquisite construction is considered challenging even with modern technology, highlighting the incredible skill of the era. The construction of the stone chamber also suggests the high social standing of the individual buried within. Monjuin Nishi Kofun is a recommended sightseeing spot not only for history buffs but also for anyone interested in ancient technology. Come and experience the technology and culture of that time.
