A park developed on the former site of a Saga clan lord's villa, known for its cherry blossoms. Historic structures like the Kamino Tea House and Kakurin-tei add to its charm.
Shinno Park is a park developed on the former site of the villa belonging to Naomasa Nabeshima, the tenth lord of Saga Domain. Known for its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, the park boasts the Kamino Tea House, a designated Important Cultural Property of Japan, and the Kakurin-tei, a reconstructed teahouse. The Kamino Tea House, built in 1846 (during the Koka era), features seven rooms ranging from 8 to 20 tatami mats and has been used for tea ceremonies and study groups. Kakurin-tei, a reconstruction of the 'Chauan' tea room within the Kamino Tea House, offers free individual entry. Inside, you can enjoy a cup of matcha (with a dry confection) for ¥300. Shinno Park also includes a children's amusement park and a small zoo, making it a fun spot for families. The amusement park offers rides like a mini-jet coaster and a Ferris wheel, while the zoo houses birds and rabbits, popular attractions for kids. Conveniently located in the heart of Saga City, Shinno Park is easily accessible. It's about a 10-minute drive or a 20-minute bus ride from Saga Station. Ample parking is available for those arriving by car. Shinno Park offers a blend of history and nature. Be sure to visit when you're in Saga City!
