A stunning bridge offering unparalleled views of the Okinawa ocean!
Kouri Ohashi Bridge, opened on February 8, 2005, connects Kouri Island in Kunigami Village, and Yagaji Island in Nago City in northern Okinawa. At 1,960 meters long, it's the second longest toll-free bridge in the prefecture. Emerald green waters stretch out on both sides, creating a spectacular drive. Immediately after crossing the bridge, to your left, you'll find Kouri Beach and the Kouri Fureai Hiroba (Kouri Community Square), where you can enjoy local products. From the parking lot at the southern end of the bridge, a short walk to a viewpoint offers panoramic views of Kouri Island and the ocean. This viewpoint, located near the bridge's summit, perfectly frames the road stretching straight towards Kouri Island. Kouri Island is known in Okinawa as the "Island of the Gods," revered as a sacred island since ancient times. It features historical sites like Kouri Gusuku and beautiful beaches like Kouri Beach. Stepping onto Kouri Island after crossing the bridge offers a truly special escape from everyday life.
