Hyuga Cape - Magase is a scenic spot located at the tip of Hyuga Cape in Hososhima, Hyuga City, Miyazaki Prefecture. It offers a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. The 70-meter-high columnar jointed cliff is believed to have been formed approximately 15 million years ago by a submarine volcanic eruption. The flowing lava solidified and was subsequently eroded by waves. It's considered the largest columnar jointing of welded tuff in Japan and was designated a national natural monument in 2018.
