Overview

Bottle-Shaped Forest Road is a forest road located in Ino-cho, Agawaya-gun, Kochi Prefecture. While its official name is Ino-cho Bottle-Shaped Mountain Line, it's locally known as the UFO Line or simply the Bottle-Shaped Mountain Line. This road runs along the ridge of Bottle-Shaped Mountain, stretching 27 kilometers of paved road from the Kochi-side exit of the old Kanpuzan Tunnel to the end of the Ishizuchi Skyline. Bottle-Shaped Forest Road is a paved forest road approximately 27 kilometers long, running along the ridge of the Ishizuchi mountain range. Enjoy a scenic drive while taking in the views of majestic mountains such as Bottle-Shaped Mountain (approximately 1,800 meters above sea level) and Iyo Fuji. On a clear day, you'll be awestruck by the panoramic view extending from the Ishizuchi mountain range to the Tosa Bay. Five kilometers down from Bottle-Shaped Mountain on the Ishizuchi side, you'll find Shirasato Pass Mountain Hut (elevation 1,406 meters). Beyond its stunning scenery, Bottle-Shaped Forest Road offers the thrill of the drive itself. The road is narrow with many curves, adding to the excitement. Several parking areas are available along the way for rest stops and enjoying the views. Bottle-Shaped Forest Road offers diverse activities including driving, hiking, and mountain climbing. The road is closed during winter, so please check road conditions before your visit. The road is narrow with many curves, so please drive carefully. There are sections without guardrails, so extra caution is required. Well-maintained hiking trails are available for hiking and mountain climbing; however, please plan your trip in advance and prepare necessary equipment.
