Shimane Winery is a winery that produces wine using grapes grown in Shimane Prefecture. Its predecessor, Shimane Budou Jozo, was established in 1959 (Showa 34), and the winery moved to its current location and was rebuilt in 1986 (Showa 61).
Shimane Winery produces approximately 650,000 bottles of wine annually, the majority using Shimane-grown grapes. Shimane Prefecture boasts a warm climate and abundant nature, making it ideal for grape cultivation. Shimane Winery creates distinctive wines that highlight locally grown grapes.
At Shimane Winery, you can enjoy factory tours, wine tastings, and sales. The factory tour allows you to witness the winemaking process firsthand and learn about the details of wine production. After the tour, you can sample and purchase wines at the on-site shop. They also sell local Shimane specialties, making it perfect for souvenir hunting.
Shimane Winery is conveniently located near Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, and many of Shimane Prefecture's leading tourist spots, such as Izumo Taisha and Tamayu Onsen, are nearby. Why not visit Shimane Winery and experience the charm of Shimane-grown wines?
