A historically charming walking path where the cobblestones beautifully glow blue when wet.
Aoishidatami Street is a roughly 200-meter cobblestone path in Mihonoseki-cho, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, leading from Mihō Shrine to Butsukotsuji Temple. Constructed in the late Edo period using sea stones, it's called "Aoishidatami" (Blue Cobblestone Street) because the stones gleam blue when wet. It was once a bustling pilgrimage route to Mihō Shrine. While now quiet and peaceful, the cobblestones and buildings offer a glimpse into its vibrant past. Historic buildings line both sides of the street, creating a picturesque scene. Many charming structures, once occupied by ship chandlers and merchants, remain. Aoishidatami Street is a beautiful and tranquil path where history and nature harmonize. Take your time strolling along the cobblestones, imagining the lives and culture of the past. It's sure to be an unforgettable experience.
