Overview
The Kyoto International Manga Museum is Japan's largest manga museum, housed in a renovated former Ryuchi Elementary School. The "Manga Book Wall," a breathtaking 200-meter-long bookshelf containing 50,000 volumes, is a sight to behold. You can also take manga out to the outdoor lawn to read. The museum displays a wide range of manga, from precious historical materials such as Meiji-era magazines and post-war rental manga to contemporary popular works. It also houses localized versions of Japanese manga from around the world and manga from other countries, offering a deeper understanding of the world of manga. The museum shop sells original goods and manga-related books. The Kyoto International Manga Museum is a museum that can be enjoyed by manga enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike. Be sure to visit!

- Located right outside Exit 2 of Karasuma Oike Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line and Tozai Line. Note that Karasuma Oike Station is located beneath the intersection of Karasuma-dori (north-south) and Oike-dori (east-west), but Exit 2 leads to the Oike-dori side (west side of the northwest corner). The museum is on the Karasuma-dori side (north side of the northwest corner), so walking straight ahead from the exit won't get you there. After exiting the station, turn left at the intersection behind you and walk north on Karasuma-dori. Show route
