The Ibukiyama Driveway is a 17km-long toll road built as a general automobile road project, stretching from Sekigahara-cho, Fuwa-gun, Gifu Prefecture to Okubo (Ibuki summit) in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture. Connecting the foot of Mount Ibuki (1377m above sea level) to its 9th station, this drive offers easy access to Mount Ibuki, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, making it a popular tourist spot.
Enjoy a scenic drive while taking in the beautiful scenery throughout the year.
Spring showcases vibrant greenery, summer bursts with alpine flowers, and autumn paints the mountains with breathtaking fall colors.
From the summit, a magnificent panorama unfolds, offering views of Lake Biwa to the west, Sekigahara to the east, and on clear days, even the distant Alps.
The summit features an observation deck, restaurants, and souvenir shops, providing ample opportunity to relax and unwind.
The summit parking area houses the "Sky Terrace Ibukiyama" rest house, which reopened in 2013, offering an observation deck, souvenir shops, and eateries.
Beyond driving, the Ibukiyama Driveway is also perfect for hiking and cycling.
Well-maintained hiking trails lead to the summit, rewarding you with 360-degree panoramic views.
