Little World, opened on March 18, 1983, is an open-air ethnographic museum showcasing traditional houses from around the world. It's said to have originated from a plan to relocate ethnographic buildings displayed at the Japan World Exposition, funded by Nagoya Railroad for Inuyama's tourism development. Today, 33 buildings from 23 countries stand side-by-side, offering visitors a chance to experience different cultures and lifestyles. Many buildings were actually relocated from their original sites, allowing visitors a glimpse into the daily lives of people from the past. For example, the house from Ishigaki Island was built around 1871, the Toba Batak house from Indonesia dates back to 1947, and the main house of the Alsace house from France was built in 1582—truly steeped in history. Little World offers more than just buildings; it also features opportunities to try on traditional costumes, restaurants serving international cuisine, and much more, ensuring a full day of enjoyment. Seasonal events are held regularly, adding even more to the experience. Take a stroll through this expansive site and immerse yourself in the diverse cultures of the world. You're sure to discover something new.
