Overview
Garyū Park is a comprehensive urban park in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture, selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Japan," "Top 100 Famous Pine Trees in Japan," and "Top 100 Natural Wonders of Nagano." It's one of the prefecture's largest urban parks and also includes a zoo.
The park features a large pond called Ryūgaike Pond, where approximately 800 cherry trees bloom spectacularly in spring. The reflection of the blossoms on the water's surface is breathtakingly beautiful, and the park is illuminated at night, creating a magical atmosphere.
Garyū Mountain holds historical significance, with ancient burial mounds, the remains of Suda Castle, and the mausoleum of the Horie family, former lords of Suzaka.
The park also offers the Suzaka City Zoo, Suzaka City Museum, tea houses, and more, ensuring a full day of enjoyment.
Garyū Park is a captivating park where nature, history, and culture harmoniously coexist. We highly recommend a visit.
