A beautiful pond where the mirror-like surface reflects the scenery of each season.
Mishakaike Pond is a stunning pond nestled at the foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains in Chino City, Nagano Prefecture. Situated at a high altitude of 1,500 meters, it's a tranquil spot surrounded by a larch forest. This pond was created in the early Showa period as a reservoir for agricultural irrigation. Because the water from the Yatsugatake Mountains was too cold and acidic for rice cultivation, this pond was built to warm the water in the sun. The water from Mishakaike Pond is still used preciously in the Sasahara district at the foot of the mountains. Due to its breathtaking beauty, Mishakaike Pond has become a popular tourist destination. A well-maintained walking path allows for leisurely strolls around the pond. Conveniently, there's also a parking lot nearby, making it easily accessible by car. Mishakaike Pond truly is a "mirror-like pond," reflecting the surrounding scenery in its still waters. In autumn, the larch forest turns vibrant shades of red and yellow, creating a breathtaking reflection on the surface of the water. Spring brings the brilliance of fresh green leaves, summer showcases the lush greenery of the trees, and winter transforms the scene into a snowy wonderland, each season offering unique charm. Mishakaike Pond is a captivating place to enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the year. Be sure to visit!
