Nezame-no-toko, located in Kamimatsu-cho, Kiso-gun, Nagano Prefecture, is a stunning natural wonder formed by the Kiso River's erosion of granite over countless years. The area is also steeped in the legend of Urashima Tarō. The tale of Urashima Tarō opening his treasure box here after returning from Ryugu-jo (the Dragon Palace) adds to Nezame-no-toko's mystical ambiance. While visiting Nezame-no-toko, be sure to check out Rinkōji Temple as well. Rinkōji Temple preserves the legend of Urashima Tarō at Nezame-no-toko, and offers stunning views of the gorge from its observation deck. The admission fee is 200 yen. Several restaurants and souvenir shops are located around Nezame-no-toko, making it a perfect place for a leisurely stroll.
