Ichikai-machi Shibazakura Park is located in Ichikai-machi, Haga District, Tochigi Prefecture. Opened in 2006, the park was built on land reclaimed from the excavation of the Housha Crystal Lake (Shioda Adjustment Pond). Of the 8-hectare park, 2.4 hectares are covered with moss phlox, representing one of the largest volunteer-planted moss phlox areas in Honshu.
From April to May, approximately 280,000 moss phlox plants burst into bloom, filling the park with vibrant pink, white, and purple hues. The breathtaking view resembles a vast, colorful carpet.
The peak blooming season is typically from mid-April to early May. During this period, the "Shibazakura Matsuri" (Moss Phlox Festival) is held, attracting numerous visitors. Enjoy the festival atmosphere with food stalls and stage events throughout the day.
Beyond the moss phlox, the park offers walking paths, an observation deck, and rest areas for a relaxing experience. Cherry blossoms also add to the beauty in spring, making it a picturesque destination year-round.
Ichikai-machi Shibazakura Park is a recommended sightseeing spot for families and couples. Be sure to visit!
