Tsukuba Mountain Plum Grove

The Tsukuba Mountain Plum Grove is a municipally-run plum grove located on the mid-slope of Mount Tsukuba in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Approximately 1,000 white, red, and green-calyx plum trees are planted here, with early bloomers reaching their peak in late January. The highlight of the Tsukuba Mountain Plum Grove is undoubtedly the contrast between the Tsukuba stones and the plum blossoms. Tsukuba stones are a type of granite common to Mount Tsukuba, and the juxtaposition of their rough, hard surfaces with the delicate beauty of the plum blossoms captivates visitors. At the top of the plum grove is an observation pavilion offering panoramic views of Mount Tsukuba and the Kanto Plain.
