Ryuzu Falls

Overview

Ryuzu Falls is one of the representative waterfalls in Oku-Nikko, Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, known as one of the three great waterfalls of Oku-Nikko along with Kegon Falls and Yutaki Falls. Its scale is impressive: at an altitude of 1350 meters, with a total length of 210 meters and a width of 10 meters. The dynamic sight of the Yugawa River, flowing from Lake Yunoko, traversing Senjogahara, and plunging down a 210-meter cliff is breathtaking. The name Ryuzu Falls (Dragon Head Falls) originates from a legend that the waterfall, split into two streams, resembles a dragon ascending to heaven. It's especially breathtaking in early summer with vibrant greenery and in autumn with fiery foliage. Descend to the base of the falls and feel the refreshing spray of the roaring water, a true revitalizing experience filled with negative ions.
