Overview
Koudouzan Jouinji Temple is a Jodo sect temple founded during the Kamakura period. It flourished as the family temple of the Hosokawa clan, the Utsunomiya feudal lords. The temple grounds feature a main hall, a priest's residence (kuri), a bell tower, and gardens, each with its own unique charm. The main hall, in particular, is impressively imposing with its sturdy construction. The gardens offer beautiful seasonal views that soothe the soul.
