Overview

Hōtoku-ji Temple is a Shingon-sect temple of the Buzan branch located in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. A historic temple long cherished by the local community, it was originally founded in the Kamakura period. Though damaged by fire, it was rebuilt in the Edo period. The temple grounds feature various structures, including the main hall, kitchen, bell tower, and three-storied pagoda, each whispering tales of the past. The three-storied pagoda, in particular, is one of the oldest in Gunma Prefecture and designated an Important Cultural Property. Its elegant form soothes the soul, allowing visitors to sense the breath of history within the tranquil atmosphere.
