Overview
The Oya Museum is a museum in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, dedicated to the former Oya stone quarry. The immense underground space, once used for quarrying, is frequently used as a filming location for movies and dramas due to its vastness and mystical atmosphere. Popular as a cool summer retreat, it attracts many tourists throughout the year.
In the underground space, you can find exhibits about the history of quarrying and the culture of Oya stone, as well as events and concerts. It's a fantastic location for photography.

From the west or east exit of JR Utsunomiya Station, take the Kanto Bus bound for Oya/Tatiiwa and get off at the "Shiryokan-iriguchi" bus stop. It's about a 5-minute walk from there.
From JR Nikko Line Kanuma Station or Tobu Nikko Line Shin-Kanuma Station, take the Kanto Bus via Aranari bound for JR Utsunomiya Station and get off at the "Oya-bashi" bus stop. It's about a 20-minute walk from there. Show route

The underground spaces are cool in temperature, so please dress accordingly. Even in summer, a long-sleeved shirt is recommended. Comfortable walking shoes are also advised.
