A lake boasting pristine water quality, set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Bandai. Enjoy beautiful scenery year-round, from cherry blossoms in spring to swimming in summer, and vibrant autumn foliage.
Lake Inawashiro is the fourth largest lake in Japan, situated near the center of Fukushima Prefecture. At an elevation of 514 meters, it's one of the highest lakes in the country and is part of the Bandai-Asahi National Park. Formed approximately 90,000 years ago by a volcanic eruption of Mount Bandai, Lake Inawashiro is a fault lake known for its exceptionally clear water, earning it the name "Tenkyo-ko" (Heaven's Mirror Lake). Surrounded by stunning mountains, including Mount Bandai, the lake offers breathtaking scenery throughout the year. Spring brings a profusion of cherry blossoms along the lakeshore, creating a beautiful contrast with Mount Bandai. Summer offers opportunities for swimming, watersports, and camping. Autumn paints the mountains in fiery hues of red and gold, reflected in the lake's surface. Winter sees the arrival of swans migrating from Siberia, making it their wintering ground. You can also witness the unique "shibuki-koori" (spray ice), formed when lake water, blown by strong winds, freezes onto trees. A sightseeing boat service operates on the lake, offering stunning views. The lakeside is well-equipped with hot springs, accommodations, and restaurants, making it a popular tourist destination. Lake Inawashiro is beloved by many for its abundant nature and diverse recreational opportunities. Come and experience it for yourself!
