Overview

Oyasukyo Gorge, located in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, is an approximately 8km-long gorge along the upper reaches of the Minase River, a tributary of the Omono River. The gorge, shrouded in lush greenery, showcases seasonal beauty: the fresh green of spring, the vibrant foliage of summer, and the fiery hues of autumn. Autumn, in particular, is breathtaking, with the gorge painted in vibrant reds and yellows. Well-maintained walking paths allow for leisurely exploration of the autumn foliage. The highlight of Oyasukyo Gorge is undoubtedly the "Daihuntou," where scalding hot water and steam violently erupt from a cliff face. The sheer power is truly awe-inspiring. The contrast between the rising steam and the autumn leaves is simply stunning! Oyasukyo's onsen town also offers easily accessible foot baths. Soaking in an onsen while admiring the autumn leaves is highly recommended. Oyasukyo Gorge offers a delightful blend of onsen (hot springs), nature, and delicious food. Come and experience its unique charms!
