Akita Furusato Mura is a theme park located in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture, where you can experience the charm of Akita with all five senses. Opened in 1994, it's a popular comprehensive facility offering a taste of Akita's traditional culture, nature, and food.
The park features a Craft Exhibition Hall showcasing Akita's traditional crafts, and a Craft Workshop where you can try your hand at making them. Here, you can experience creating traditional Akita crafts like birch bark crafts (kabazayou), Akita woodworking, and Akita Kanto (lantern festival floats). Watching the artisans at work is also a highlight.
At the Furusato Ryori-kan (local cuisine hall), you can savor delicious Akita specialties, including Kiritanpo nabe (a hearty rice dumpling pot), Inaniwa udon (thin wheat noodles), and Hinai-jidori (local chicken). These dishes, made with locally sourced ingredients, are all exquisite and offer a true taste of Akita.
