Furepe Falls is a waterfall located within Shiretoko National Park in Shari-cho, Shari-gun, Hokkaido.
This 60-meter drop, 80-meter elevation seep waterfall cascades from a cliff on the east side of Punyi Cape on the Shiretoko Peninsula into the Okhotsk Sea, and is counted among the Eight Views of Shiretoko.
Furepe Falls is fed by groundwater originating from the Shiretoko mountain range; lacking an inflowing river, its water volume is low, earning it the nickname "A Maiden's Tears."
The sight of water seeping from cracks in the approximately 100-meter-high cliff face, trickling down the slope like teardrops, is truly awe-inspiring.
A waterfall on the cliff to the east of Furepe Falls, with slightly higher water volume, is reportedly called "A Man's Tears."
Located within Shiretoko National Park, Furepe Falls offers a magnificent view within a lush natural environment.
The area around Furepe Falls also boasts many other tourist spots, such as the Shiretoko Nature Center and Utoro Cape Lighthouse.
