Tsugaike Nature Park is a nature reserve located in Chikuni, Otari Village, Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture, within the Chubu-Sangaku National Park. This park utilizes a high-altitude marshland at 1,900 meters above sea level, covering an area of approximately 100 hectares. A 5.5km boardwalk meanders through the park, offering visitors a chance to observe a variety of alpine plants. Spring showcases Mizubasho and Zazensou, early summer brings Nikkokisuge and Hakusan-ichige, summer features Komakusa and Takanematsumushi, and autumn paints the landscape in vibrant autumn colors. The autumn foliage is truly a breathtaking spectacle! The high altitude makes it a refreshing escape even during summer. While a route bus once served the area, it was replaced by a ropeway system in 1994 to better protect the environment. In 2007, the Mizubasho marshland became fully accessible. Tsugaike Nature Park is not only a place to enjoy the grandeur of nature but is also accessible to all, making it a comfortable and enjoyable spot for families with young children and seniors.
