Nestled in the Shioda district of Ogawa-machi, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, Ogawa Suwa Shrine captivates visitors with its tranquil atmosphere and stunning vermillion shrine building. The weeping cherry blossoms surrounding the shrine during cherry blossom season are particularly enchanting, attracting many visitors.
While the exact founding date of the shrine is unknown, its long history of being cherished by the local community is evident. The grounds feature a 500-year-old weeping cherry tree, designated as a city-designated natural monument. Additionally, Ogawa Inari Shrine and Yasaka Shrine are also located within the grounds, each with its own unique charm.
Ogawa Suwa Shrine is also known for its popular goshuin (temple seal). After passing through the torii gate, you can receive a hand-written goshuin at the office on the right. A variety of goshuin designs are available, making it a great spot for collectors.
There is parking for about 10 cars next to the torii gate, providing convenient car access.
Ogawa Suwa Shrine offers a tranquil setting where you can experience a sense of history. We highly recommend a visit.
