The Endo Shusaku Bungakukan is a precious place where you can experience the literary world of the writer Endo Shusaku. Located in the Outer Sea district of Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, this area served as the setting for his novel *Silence*, holding a special place in Endo's heart. The museum exhibits precious materials, personal belongings, original manuscripts, and books from Endo's lifetime, allowing visitors to delve into not only his literary works but also his ideology and philosophy as a writer. The recreation of Endo Shusaku's home study is a must-see. His desk, chair, and bookshelves are faithfully reproduced, allowing you to imagine him at work. The special exhibition room regularly hosts exhibitions on various themes related to Endo Shusaku's literary works and thoughts, including past themes like "The World of Silence," "Endo Shusaku and Christianity," and "Endo Shusaku and Japanese Literature." For a deeper understanding of Endo's works, be sure to check out the special exhibitions. The museum also has a café space called "Unchante" (meaning enchanting). Boasting a superb location overlooking the Gokurakunada Sea, you can relax, reread Endo's works, and enjoy a cup of tea. The view from the window might be the very scenery that inspired Endo's novels. The Endo Shusaku Bungakukan offers a blend of the beautiful scenery of the Outer Sea district—the setting for *Silence*—and Endo Shusaku's literary world. Even if you haven't read his works, this is a great opportunity to step into his literary universe.
